Once you have your custom pet insurance policy and have paid your premium on a monthly or annual schedule, you carry on as usual! When you need to visit the vet you can submit a claim for reimbursement of the eligible expenses.

Your annual deductible amount applies during each policy period. You must satisfy your annual deductible before your reimbursements start.

There is a 14-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses in most states.

The waiting period begins on the first effective date of the applicable coverage. Any condition that occurs during an applicable waiting period is a pre-existing condition and is not eligible for coverage.

Pet Insurance plans provided by Spot do not cover pre-existing conditions.

Illness, disease, injury, or change to your pet’s health that first occurs or shows symptoms before coverage is effective or during a waiting period is considered a pre-existing condition. This includes conditions that are related to, secondary, or resultant from a pre-existing condition.  

Submitting claims is fast and easy via the Spot app or Member Center. Simply upload your paperwork, which can include our itemized vet bill and sometimes your pet's medical records, and submit. Approved claims can be reimbursed by direct deposit or mailed check.
